The Nature of Fear Among Farmers Working with Animal Production

Abstract In this article, we investigate the nature of fear among farmers working with animal production particular focus on impact harassment and crimes linked to rights activism. The study is based responses from 3815 a national survey in 2020 Sweden. Cross-table analysis logistic regression models underlie methodology study. Findings show that three out ten those feel afraid being victimized by actions activists; proportion two-thirds previous experience victimization, victimization varies across Sweden type activity. Perceived lack support police, exacerbated geographical isolation, are common determinants farmers’ declared fear, particularly whose families live farms who have employees. While understanding factors affect safety perceptions important, article ends calling for further research ways which activism impacts personal lives, their family employees, not least livelihood.
